safetyissue
Does anyone else have this DANGEROUS SAFETY issue ? LOW BEAMS TOTALLY INADEQUATE. Low beams illuminate a pattern of only 18 ft. in front of vehicle. At 25 miles per hour a vehicle travels 36.6 feet per second, which means the driver has less then a half of one second to react to anything in or on side of the road. Had the vehicle to the Dealer twice regarding this but not until the salesman and service manager took a night time ride did they believe my complaint. After the night ride time they both agreed, "they would not drive a car like that". Service checked four other Fusions and discovered they too had this pattern of light. Since the beams are within the owners manual specks and Ford has not addressed/acknowledged this issue as of yet (waiting for a fatallity?) the Dealer could not help me and suggested installing after markets and registering the Vin# with the NHTSA. Purchased Piaa 75's and had their Service Dept install. This did not fix the 18 ft. pattern problem. Can the low beams on the 2011 be adjusted vertically or any suggestions to remedy this before a tragedy occurs . Thanks
FusionDiffusion
I'm not sure what's wrong with your headlights, but mine light up 300 feet or more in front of my car. Have you checked the headlight aiming? You can adjust them yourself. Just read your owner's manual.
safetyissue
The 2011 model has no vertical adjustment screw. There is no adjusting .
FusionDiffusion
Yes, there is. See page 57 of your manual. There is no horizontal adjustment, but there is a vertical adjustment screw (white plastic I believe) on the top of the headlight housing. I've never heard of a car with completely non-adjustable headlights. Did you even bother to look?
safetyissue
Yes ! THANK YOU ! The adjustment screws are there contrary to the nay sayings of the Ford Service Department Tech and Manager where I purchased the car even now after I just told them I made the adjustment. As a matter of fact I'm not sure who is more of an idiot, me for not looking or them for not knowing, DUH ! Thanks again.
FusionDiffusion
You're welcome. Glad you figured it out. The headlights should have been adjusted at the factory, so they shouldn't be that far off on a 2011. Perhaps they were replaced or removed (front end damage) by someone. EDIT: FYI, see my pinned topic in this section for adjusting the fog lamps. They aren't adjusted properly at the factory. Now adjust the foglights per instructions on this forum. You'll probably find them to be too low..

I think this dealer just don't want to associate with you in adjusting the lights "higher" ( it's assumed you will do that). If the projectors are biased downwards, it's better to use the regular 55 watt bulbs with the projectors raised. At night, it's not how clearly you can see but how much you can see.
