SCT Steeda Programmer

Recommended Posts

I got my SCT Programmer from Steeda today. When I opened the box, there was a note inside that said "use custom not strategy tune". I did not understand this. When I went to program it, there were approximately 12 settings that I could change. I did not know which ones to change to get the extra performance and "better gas mileage". Did it automatically change certain things when I programmed it or do I have to make those changes manually? Any help is appreciated. Thanks! 2011 Fusion Sport

Best bet would be to call Steeda to confirm. From my experience with SCT programmers, I'd guess the custom tune is all that you should install. I wouldn't be messing with strategy setting adjustments unless you understand what they will impact. Hopefully you will get the support you need from Steeda. On past cars I have used an authorized SCT dealer and custom tuner in St. Augustine Florida who is one of the best. Good luck, and let us know if you notice any improvement in performance or mpg's with the tune. :)

If you didn't back up your stock settings and install a tune, you didn't change anything. You can simply choose a tune from the custom tune (like 87 octane) and load it into the PCM. It will first back up your stock settings before anything tune is installed.

If you installed a tune and not sure if you chose something that you shouldn't have, simply choose the "return to stock" option. Then install the tune of your choice, and of course before it will load a tune, it will again first back up your stock settings.

You can browse around on the tuner, but as long as you don't load up a tune, you won't change anything on your Fusion.

Did you give PCM code to Steeda when you ordered and ask for what specific tunes you wanted?

the Tuner I got from Steeda had strictly just the 2 tunes I requested under custom tunes, the Strategy tune menu was empty. some SCT devices come with these strategy tunes, but they are not really specific to your car.

The Steeda Tunes come fine without selecting advanced options or adjustments, skip that option when loading the custom tune. you move accross the sct menu screen till you reach program vehichle => custom tunes =? 91 tune without sleeve or whatever you had the SCT loaded with from Steeda.

I just ordered my SCT programmer with an 89 tune and a 93 tune. I have never ordered a tune before but since I decided to keep the car and not buy a new one yet (Saving for big down payment on new Legacy, Fusion, Optima, Altima, etc etc in 2014) I wanted to perk my car up to give me that spoiled feeling again. Hopefully this does the trick, along with making 2-3 a little smoother!

I got it through Steeda, should be at my house tomorrow as I am impatient, don't mind paying for fast shipping, and have an ass load of stuff to do with the kids on Friday.

So I got the SCT in the mail and put on the 89 performance tune. Crazy what a difference this makes.

The only comparison I can think of is how much a CAI and Magnaflow did not do a whole lot in my 2005 Colorado and how much this does to this Fusion. Makes me feel dumb for not doing it on the truck.

I did have a few questions about the SCT (which I will probably call Steeda about). I was rifling through the few options I have and noticed the rpm limiter was set to 7000 in drive and neutral, this worries me because I thought max rpm is 6550? My question I guess is does everyone use this feature or does the tune that I cannot access take care of this. Also If I lowered the max to 6550 would that screw the tune up?

Also, I have not tried the 93 yet but plan to tomorrow, has anyone had any issues with getting ping on a 93 tune? I guess my question is, is the Steeda tune real aggressive?

I know these are all questions that probably need to be directed to them but just checking to see with some guys that have been running a 93 tune.

So do these x3 units come with canned tunes too? Pretty sure that's what's meant by strategy tune. I've got a sct 3015 on my f150 using a canned tow tune. Thing is i only paid $285.00 on ebay for it so i'll prob. Buy one for the fusion off there too.
