whats up guys, first post here. I am the owner of a 2007 awd fusion with the 3.0 engine. I have done a few cosmetic mods but nothing with performance yet. Id like to do a tune and cai. I have searched around for real power adders like a super or turbo setup and almost every topic comes along with trolling answers like "build it yourself" or "your going to blow your transmission" but no real answers. Let's forget about the transmission, as I'd like to upgrade to the sho awd tranny eventually anyway.(as far as I understood they are the dame with different power ratings?) I have seen one supercharged setup on YouTube which cost like 5 grand to build or something crazy like that. I'm not looking to push 400 hp here, just want a little boost. Anyone got suggestions? My brother owns a gt grandprix which is supercharged and makes around 260 hp, and that's what I'd like to be around. There has to be a small super/turbo setup that will work with these motors. Thanks for the input guys. And please, let's not jump straight to the junked tranny talk

I wouldn't be that sure that the SHO ATX is going to work in a 2007 Fusion. The SHO/MKS uses the 6F55, which is a modified 6F50. Definitely unrelated to the Aisin trans in your car and not intended to be paired with the 3.0 Duratec. The 6F50 was designed for use with the 3.5/3.7 engines, not the 3.0. That aside, how will you get the 6F55 TCM to function in a car it wasn't designed for?

The Fusion Sport is 260hp, and it's done reliably with good driveability and guaranteed to work in all weather conditions you're likely to encounter. Seriously, if it's 260hp you want, you'll come out ahead just trading up to a Sport.

Droid, it was my understanding that the 55 was just a beefed up 50. Maybe I'm off base with that? It was also my understanding that the 3.5 was nearly the same as the 3.0 with some changes to it? The only reason I mentioned that is because I thought they'd be direct swaps.

Waldo, I have been noticing the sports, they're nice but I haven't had the car long, not really looking to trade it in. I'm assuming they have the same drivetrain as the mkz?

The 6F55 is a beefed up 6F50. But your Fusion has an Aisin tranny, not a 6F. There is no PCM code for a 2007 that controls a 6F tranny. Just getting all the parts to work together correctly with the electronics is a big hurdle. Getting it to work really well together is almost impossible.

For what it would cost you to do these upgrades you could trade yours in for a Sport and have the same power with factory reliability.

As Allen said, the 6F55 is just a beefed up 6F50, but neither one has ever been used in a Fusion. Even the 2010-2012 Fusion 3.0L uses a 6F35, which I think has a totally different case than the 6F50. So certainly not a drop in. The 3.5 is also a pretty much new from scratch engine compared to the 3.0L, also not a direct swap. For example, note that the current Fusion Sport does not have EPAS steering while the base car does. The reason is simply because the 3.5 exhaust won't clear the EPAS motor, but the 3.0L's does. I know your 2007 doesn't have EPAS, but I'm just using this as a point to show how much difference there is.

Aside from what others have said. It seems Nautilus performance is the only company that makes a supercharger that will fit the Fusion. Like you said, you already found it, and it is pricy. You would have to customize the hood, but I think the kit comes with everything else. That being said, its almost 6k for the kit with intercoolers and such, and all the time it would take you to install it. I haven't found any turbo kits myself, its probably not impossible to do, but there aren't any kits as of now. I've searched endlessly for one. Seems for now all we can do is CAI, Tune, and exhaust. Might as well get a professional tune rather than the sct one for 400. You have any performance places near you with a dyno that can tune? That would probably be the best option at this point. Otherwise if you can swap the tranny and do find another kit, please post and post pictures, I'd love to see.

Real performance mods for the Fusions are limited. The supercharger for the 3.0 is all I've ever heard off. You're pretty much limited to a CAI and a tune if you want to spend $1000 or less. If you want 260 HP in a Fusion, the easiest way is to buy a Sport.

I've always said if you're into performance mods, you should buy a Mustang or a Honda. Many more possibilities there.

And to reiterate, no you cannot make a 6F50/55 transmission work with with your 3.0 engine or the rest of your car since that combination has never existed in a Ford product. The 6F50/55 might bolt up to the 3.0 because both the 3.0 and 3.5 engines came with the Aisin F21 tranny and the 3.5 SHO engine is the same block as the N/A 3.5 engine in the Sport (assuming the F21 and 3.5 block do not have multiple versions).

If you don't want to trade for a sport and go with modifications instead you could do intake, exhaust, headers from http://nautilusperformance.com/performance-automotive-parts-store#ecwid:category=2181206&mode=category&offset=0&sort=nameAsc

Once all your bolt on's are in place get a tune. That should really wake up the motor.

Alright guys, thanks for clearing up the tranny and engine questions, I was a little off base. Im not trying to make this thing a race car, it just seems like a dog off the line, I'm sure the awd adds a bit of drag. Maybe I'm just expecting

Too much out of this little 3.0, my previous car was a Lincoln mark viii with the 4.6 in it, which wasn't crazy fast but had plenty of power. 6k is waaay more then I'm trying to spend and is what I'd consider a "big boy" supercharger. I was hoping there was maybe a smaller one, similar to what gm puts on the grand prix and Monte Carlo but I guess no go. I appreciate the input guys
