Typical wait time when ordering

I recently ordered (3/20) a 2012 Fusion SEL fully loaded. I was told 6-8 weeks by the dealer, but was wondering what everyone elses wait time was as i've heard it can take longer than 8 weeks at times. Especially since Ford will start production soon on the 2013's and they recently had a promotion. I have not received a VIN yet as well. Thanks in advance.

Hi adima. :D Standard time frame is 6-8 weeks. However, that assumes no holiday, or other shutdowns/slowdowns, so individual experiences will vary. Mine took 6 weeks to the day.

Good luck. :beerchug:

  • 2 weeks later...

Thanks guys! I stopped into the dealership last week to see if there was any progress and the guy said that he checked the visibility and it was set to be built the 17th and shouldn't be to much longer after that when it arrives. So i'm thinkin a couple weeks for transport, what do you guys think? 2 weeks (May 1st) would put it right on the 6 week mark.

The main factors influencing the delivery time are the dealership's allocation, commodity availability and priority (set by the dealership). If the dealership has already ordered their allotment for the next several weeks, you wait to start the clock. If you order options that are on hold/short supply, you wait. If the dealership orders vehicles after your order with a higher priority, they get built before you (10 is higherst dealership priority and 99 is lowest.) Some dealerships order everything as 20 priority and it is first come, first built.

Questions to ask when ordering:

Do you have current allocation?

Are any of my options on hold/short supply?

Will you order later units with a higher priority than my vehicle?

My 2011 SEL Luxury Package/Moons & Tunes/reverse sensors and in Tuxedo Black took a few days all they had to do is check the inventory at dealerships in close proxmitity and had a driver drive it over, only 50 kms. I guess when you live in a bigger city you can get it sooner, don't know where you live. My purchase was meant to be, because when I agreed to the sale they just got a fax about finance promo from %5.99 down to %3.99. And those were the exact options I wanted in the exact color and was available in just days.
