IF you were ordering a 2012 sport how would you order it?

I got AWD, and PKG 402a, remote start and the HD Floor Mats.

First off, it will be AWD or No AWD, that is the first decision that you would make.

Second, PKG 402a or not, which as you know, gives you the SEL goodies, I wanted EATC and heated seats, so I had to go 402a.

The smaller accesssories such as remote start or floor mats can be added as needed.

The only other nig concern is the NAV system. I have a TOM TOM with lifetime Traffic and Map updates, so I use that. To update the Ford system, it is $199.00 a year, and the Sirius travel link is not free after 6 months, so there goes that idea. Also, the Climate controls and Radio are all combined, if one goes down, they all go down. That is a personal choice of either love it or hate it, but to me, it is not worth $1995.

You only have a short time left to order, so I suggest you hurry before it's too late.

Whether you want the Nav or not is probably a huge decision (~$2000 difference). Personally, I use the nav on my Nexus and I've "heard" the Nav on the Ford isn't the greatest. The monochrome package (Black grill and 18" wheels) gives your car non-stock, unique look. I have only seen one other Fusion in my area with it and I have gotten a ton of compliments on the black grill (vs. chrome).

Good luck!

I would order it the same as how I bought my 2010 Sport. Fully equipped except for the Nav system. I have a Garmin with lifetime traffic and lifetime maps that I use for my very frequent travels so I bought another windshield mount and cable and leave it installed on the Fusion. I tend to keep a car for a very long time, and the last thing I want to contend with is an outdated Nav system five or ten years from now when there is likely to be little or no factory support.

The only feature I would not have bought if the car would have had everything else I wanted without it is the sunroof.

I would wait for the 2013 Fusion with the 2.0 ecoboost...Your probably looking at around 19-20 mpg vs with the 2.0 you are probably looking at like 24 even with AWD.

That being said if you want this model I would get it with every option including the navigation. The system is the first I've seen that hasn't made me want to go aftermarket. I'd pass on Ford's remote start. For the same price you can get a python responder one off amazon which is 2 way and way better.

AeRO,

Unfortunately you can no longer order the 2012 fusion models... I am in the process of aquiring a 2012 Sport AWD and like you, I thought that since it was still up on their website that I could place an order. I called multiple dealers up and down the east coast and they all say the same thing, ordering for 2012 is closed. Your only option is to work with your dealer and look through the existing inventory. My local dealer found a 2012 Fusion Sport AWD with 401A package (exactly what I wanted) and not one option more. However, since i had specific option requirements I had to sacrifice my silver color preference for the White tri-coat metallic. I had to put down a $300 refundable deposit to secure the vehicle and have it transferred to my location. If you are serious about aquiring one of these vehicles I suggest that you start the aquisition process with your dealer yesterday! LOL! Good luck ;)

Why bother ordering one, You have pretty limited options, and if you get one thing you like you have to delete something else, I hate the way options are on cars nowadays, basicly you are just getting something that was build like everyone elses, nothing you can do to make the car "Your own" anymore so just look at existing inventory.

Wow, they closed it a few weeks early. So looks like this is it folks. What is out there is out there, good luck with the rest. And you ordered an AWD Sport with the 401A package? Interesting. But if that is what you want, then you will be happy with it.

I wanted the 401A package because I couldnt justify the 3k price jump to the 402A package. Additionally I do not care for the look of the radar sensors required for the BLIS\backup system, I prefer to have the little blind spot mirrors instead. I took delivery of the vehicle over the weekend and am loving it!

Actually, I do like the mirrors over the BLIS system. It sucks that you can't have both. The only reason that I got the 402a was I wanted EATC and heated seats that my SEL had, and the only way to get it was with that package. If it were not for a coupon from an Area Rep, It would have made it very tough for me to get.

I just had mine in the shop, and had a 11 mercury milan premier as a loaner, and it had the mirrors, really nice!!!!

BLIS has no visible sensors. It's only the reverse sensors that are visible.

Go for it. Just got a 11 Sport AWD with the 402a package last month... and am absolutely enjoying the driving experience. I also use a Garmin and couldn't justify the added $2k for the onboard navi... (apparently as someone mentioned above... with an added $200/yr updating fee?!!)

If there would be anything I would do differently, I'd like to try the FWD to maybe add a mile or two on my MPG"s and also shave off a few 10ths of a sec on standing take offs. Unfortunately, the Sport FWD was not offered up here in Canada. No regrets for me though... the AWD gives me the confidence I look for in rain or snow... and did I say that I absolutely love driving it?!

Post-purchase, I'd look at threads here at FFF to see what mods other guys are doing. So many great ideas here... LED/HID lights, CAI, tints and exterior body coloring/mouldings, etc. Make your Fusion your own.

Wow, they do not offer a FWD Sport in Canada? Did not know that. But on the bright side, If there is any place that you will need the AWD, it would be Canada.

Yea, I Don't like the intergrated screen with all the systems, it is hard to keep clean (Fingerprints) and if it goes down, you loose everything. But the biggest issue is the fact that you pay $200 a year to update it, and the Sirius travel link is not free after 6 months, so forget that!!!!

I like my TOM TOM, lifetime traffic and map updates.

Nobody pays $200/year for updates. Most people (me included) never update. Worst case you'd only do it every 3-4 years.

I have the BLIS system and it's pretty awesome. It's obviously not something you depend on, but its a pretty nice option - very accurate too. The sensors (I think) are in the mirror.

As I mentioned above, the BLIS sensors are not in the mirrors. They're in the rear quarter panels behind the bumper cover.

Ford Media:

The feature uses two

multiple-beam radar

modules, the same used

with cross-traffic alert,

which are packaged in

the rear quarter panels –

one per side.

Ford Media:

That is good to know, I wonder why they dont use the same technology for their back-up sensor system instead of the current inserts?

They do. When you back up, the radar sensors are looking to the side for moving vehicles (cross traffic mode) as you back out of your spot. If a car is driving past your rear end, you will hear warning chimes and the cluster will say which way the car is coming from. The three ultrasonic parking sensors on the rear bumper are also active when backing (they are more effective at very close ranges). This is a very useful feature when you're backing out from in-between two massive SUV's and you can't see anything.

Again, the only thing in the mirrors are the warning lights. The radar sensors are in the fenders, and the parking sensors are in the bumper.
