Fourman
Hello, my name is Jeff and i just picked up a fusion yesterday. 2010 black/black SEL 3.0 with leather, sony, 18s, backup camera, blind spot indicators... probably more that i havent found yet, haha. The only thing i can think of that it is missing is the NAV system, but i can deal with that. I put the 44,500th mile on it on my drive home yesterday and the car feels solid as a rock. I am coming off a 159,000 mile pontiac grand prix though, so about anything would feel solid compared to that old rattle trap. It was good to me, and hopefully i can get 5+ years out of my fusion as well! I got the dealer down to $17,400... $18,788 out the door. I think i did alright considering KBB and NADA had it priced from 21,300-21,700 for clean retail... but you guys surely know more than i do, so how does that sound? I will probably be more of a lurker than anything, ive been reading some stuff on here since last night trying to get some ideas what to do with the car. Tint for sure, but i am on the fence about anything else. Definitely no power mods, i have a 532 whp (hopefully more this year with a bigger cam and more compression... but thats a different story!) 06 GTO to satisfy my go-fast desires :D I still need to get the car nice and cleaned up... and remove the stupid dealer sticker... but will put up some pics soon.
ARFusion
Congrats! I have the same car, except 2012 edition lol. Does your have the SAP-monochrome package? (ie. black grill, 18" wheels etc).

Thanks! My car does not have monochrome, and after looking at your thread i am sad that it doesnt. Im not a chrome fan anyway, but your car looks sharp! I do have that same style of wheel though.
ARFusion
I know many people have painted theirs black. There are a few threads here and on the FordFusionClub website about it. Surprisingly, I really like the stock wheels and may stick with them for a while.
andrewdingemans
Fourman, painting it isn't that hard of an option. Like said, there are quite a few threads on how to do it. Chrome in my opinion has lost it's touch, especially on plastic-like parts. You guys are lucky to get that style of wheel. If only they carried it in 18" then i'd be sold.
Fourman
While going over the car last night (and removing the front license plate bracket that was drilled/riveted into the bumper), i noticed that there are some blemishes in the chrome. If they get to bothering me too much, i just might have to paint it! Arent those wheels 18s? I thought they were? I hate that early part of owning a car where i dont know it inside and out. Trying to get there though
ARFusion
They are 18s :P I'm still learning too!
andrewdingemans
They are 18's? You're kidding me! I was told that the Fusion sport rims are the only in 18". All the other alloys are 17", and the steelies with hubcaps are 16". I guess they changed it? Ontario dealers should give you the option to mount a front plate or not, if you opt out, they should just have us sign a waiver that we will be responsible for mounting the plate. I would have liked it down in the bottom grille area, but I don't want to look at the 2 stupid holes that would be left behind. Knowing the car inside and out comes with time. It's taken me almost 6 months to get to know almost everything about mine, what it can handle and what it can't, how much I can abuse it until it tells me to stop....wait, this is starting to sound like something familiar :P

What I might do down the line is get 19s for summer and slap some winters on the 18s. That way, I'll be ballin all seasons lol. I read some threads on removing the plates. You can cover the holes with hole covers. Since our cars are black, it would only be noticeable close up.
andrewdingemans
Yea, I need to figure out where to buy them, crappy tire and part source don't carry them, atleast the ones i've gone to. If I can find them, off the plate comes from the bumper. I might grab some white ones for my brother's mazda 3 also if I can find em. The SAP doesn't include the rocker panels though right? you should grab a set. I've seen a guy with a white hybrid who 'sported' their ride, rocker panels, spoiler, springs, the whole 9-yards. Only problem is he left the hybrid badge on. Fourman, use a hairdryer and some floss or fishline to get rid of the dealer badge unless it's a sticker. I've found a bit of goo-gone makes quick work of stickers and tar on our cars. I have the body protectant so not sure if that makes a difference.
ARFusion
That was the first thing I looked into when I got mine. I love the rockers but Ford wants my unborn kids. They want $700 each installed and painted. I found it online at Team Ford Parts for $350 each unpainted, but my Uncle has a body shop so I'll ask him to paint them for me. the kicker is they don't ship to Canada. I'd have to ship it to a relative. Regardless, I will probably hold off on that until next year. I'd want to get Rims and springs first. I had a link for those hole covers. I'll find it and send it to you. Edit--> Here is one I found. They even colour match. http://bumperplugs.com/BPindex.html Edited April 12, 2012 by ARFusion
andrewdingemans
Yea, I know about BumperPlugs, but refuse to pay that price. I am pretty sure there is a cheaper solution around. Looking at maybe those push pin things that litter every automobile out there to hold all it's plastic parts together. Yea, $700 is quite steep. Unfortunate for us, not a single fusion has been found in a wrecking yard yet. That would be the easiest solution, but i think the 2010-2012's are too new for the junk yards. then again I saw a 2012 sonata in one last week (had the whole roof cut off and the engine was already gone)
Fourman
Lol. Glad i was right about 18s! I measured the holes to right at 1/4" and ended up going to the local ACE hardware store and asking for some black plastic plugs that would fit into a 1/4" hole. They actually had a section with drawers full of automotive fasteners and i got the plugs for 30¢ each. Quick and cheap, just like i like it. Wait, now it is ME talking about other things! :o

Fourman
Patience, gentlemen! Ha... been kinda busy the last couple evenings so i havent had a chance to detail the exterior to my liking yet. I suppose some quick pics are easy enough though, i will try to get those tonight since i think it is supposed to rain on and off for the next few days. Need to brag all over facebook and whatnot anyway, right? I will make sure to get a closeup of the plugs i used. For 30¢ each, cant go wrong. They have the christmas tree-style 'threads' like you see on interior trim fasteners so i am sure they are secure. Might go get a couple more, sand them down smooth, prep and paint gloss black for a closer match. I will first have to check my finances though with how much they cost :o
Fourman
a few quick pics since i dont think i am going to be able to get it properly detailed before the weekend. the car had a front license plate bracket on it when i picked it up. it was solidly riveted into the bumper. drilled out the rivets, polished it up a bit under where the bracket was covering, and put in a couple 30 cent plugs from ACE to fill the holes. good enough for now, but i need to work on the paint where the edges of the bracket scratched it.
andrewdingemans
I found some of those at Part Source, unfortunately they were $1.60 each. I have the same scratch from the bracket.
