evh
I have a 2009 SEL 2.3 liter. The driver door started rattling around 35,000 miles. Here was my easy solution. The source of the rattle is the plastic insert that holds the power window switches and is part of the door “cubby hole” you pull to close the door. This plastic insert is held by a single screw. The screw is at the bottom of the cubby hole and is usually covered by a flat rubber piece. Remove the rubber piece and remove the screw. The plastic insert will come out. The source of my rattle is that this plastic piece would rattle against the door plastic piece that it sits in. To solve it I found some thin weather stripping that was sticky on one side. I then cut it in half making it twice as thin as it was. So it was about a 1/8” inch thick. I then stuck about 6 very small pieces around where this plastic piece would touch the plastic door panel. I put the plastic piece back in and put the screw in it and tightened it. No more rattle! Edited May 6, 2012 by evh
