Electrical Flukes?

I have had my 2011 Sport for 1 year now and have had 3 strange electrical problem/flukes! 1st: I was driving uphill onto a bridge and out of no where the gas pedal didnt respond. I pushed it multiple times and got no feedback. I coasted the car to the emergency lane and put it in park, shut it off, waited a few seconds, started it back up, rev'd it up a few times, put it in drive and drove off like nothing even happened. 2nd: I keep my "baby" in the garage all the time when Im not driving her. I open my garage door to pull my car out and both front windows are rolled all the way down. I leave my car completely closed to keep the new car smell in. I would never leave my windows down! 3rd: Same issue as #2..I open the garage door to find that both front windows and now my sunroof is in the "vent" position. Has anyone heard or experienced these issues?

Ok...so I read some other posts and found the answer to my "mystery windows", Its an option I didn't know I had. However, I don't recall holding the unlock button to engage this function. I will just be more cautious from now on. The gas pedal issue has not come around since that one time but still has been unanswered.

  • 3 years later...

I have a 2015 fusion and my wife experienced the same issue. Called dealer. They had no idea about this. I was visiting a cousin and their 20 year old weekend mechanic son showed me how to use my keyless remote to open windows and sun roof. Seems the remote was in pants pocket and setting this feature off. Strange. Glad I was able to figure this out.

It shouldn't be that surprising as this feature is clearly explained in the owner's guide for your Fusion:

Global Opening and Closing

You can use the remote control to operate the windows with the ignition off.
Note: You can enable or disable this feature in the information display or see an authorized dealer. See General Information.
Note: To operate this feature, accessory delay must not be active.
Opening the Windows
You can only open the windows for a short time after you unlock your vehicle with the remote control. After you unlock your vehicle, press and hold the remote control unlock button to open the windows and vent the moonroof. Release the button once movement starts. Press the lock or unlock button to stop movement.
Closing the Windows
WARNING
warning_ownerguide.gif When closing the windows and moonroof, you should verify they are free of obstructions and make sure that children and pets are not in the proximity of the window openings.
To close the windows and moonroof, press and hold the remote control lock button. Release the button once movement starts. Press the lock or unlock button to stop movement.

With all the features in modern cars, it's more important than ever to read the manual.

What's really disheartening is that your dealer is so clueless. That doesn't bode well for any future service you may need.
