Hi rdlouhy. :D As has been mentioned in past threads concerning this subject, it is defninitely for CD's. It fits approximately 6-7 commercial CD jewel cases and more of the thinner CD-R cases. While I am not sure about more recent models, this used to be mentioned in the Owners Manual. Although people sometimes speculate that it is for an umbrella, the Owners Manual and various other purposes, those items do not fit. On a side note, since I don't carry CD's in my glove cmpartment, I (well, actuall ymy wife) uses it a s napkin/tissue holder for clean napkins from fast food places for quick cleanups in the car.
