James Nira
Hello, Quick question, I am planning to buy a new car. I am looking for a V6 under 30K. My choices are a Honda Accord EXL V6, Nissan Altima 3.5SR, Camry SEL V6 and Ford Fusion Sport. I am getting mixed reviews but I like the Fusion. Can you all please let me know your reviews 'coz you guys are the real fusion sport drivers. Thanks and awaiting your reply. James
LFSoccer2k6
I just got rid of my 07 Accord V6 for the Fusion Sport. Overall I love the Sport way more...handles and drives a ton better. Power wise, they are similar. The Accord is much quicker off the line, but Fusion has that turbo feel to it in higher gears.
silver fuze
I've driven them all. All things considered, the Sync system in the Fusion is the tie breaker. For me, it's a nice feeling not to have to mess w/a phone while driving. Additionally, I'm not sure abotu the resale value of the others, but the Fusion is respectable. Finally, if it's additional power you seek, you can always add a CAI system.
indifferent
^^ CAI is going to add very little HP by itself. Also i am a little confused to why the system i have seen is referred to as a CAI. Everyone i have seen keeps the the airfilter and intake in the engine bay, last i checked the engine bay gets quite hot when the car has been running this makes it more of a WAI. You still get the benefit of the larger airfilter thus more air but cooler air hardly. I would think i true CAI intake would require the intake to be relocated outside the engine bay. Just my .02.

Hi all. :D indifferent is 100% correct. Most aftermarket "CAI's" are just add-on intakes that actually draw in warm/hot air from the top of the engine compartment. Ironically, our cars come with a "CAI' from the factory, as the snorkel design draws in cool air from lower down in the wheelwell area. And in stock form, our factory intake already draws in more than enough air to supply the engine, even at wide open throttle. So aftermarket "CAI's" do more to lighten our wallets than improve engine performance. And before anyone posts "dyno charts" from one company or another, be sure to also post a link where they guarantee a specific minimum horsepower gain or offer all of your money back, no questions asked (yeah, read the "guarantees" really carefully). And none of this "...well, we can't predict temperature, altitude, gasoline grade, time of high tide, moon phases etc.. If they cannot guarantee it, it does not exist. Anything else is carefully crafted advertising and marketing copy. Good luck. :beerchug: Edited July 23, 2012 by bbf2530
geost1
Ultimately it's up to personal preference. All three of these cars get good reviews and are know for reliability. Given the fact that you're the one that has to live with this car day in and day out, you should decide which one of the three you prefer.
ccd228
I've got the sport 2012 and love it. You should be able to get a nice loaded one at that price with the rebates/rate specials. The dealer can come off price some too. I haul ass thru interstate in the morning. It's quick and fun to drive. I personally think the fusion looks better than the ones you listed. Keep in mind though if you want an 2012 model buy soon before the new models hit.

James Its hard to remain unbiased with this question, this being a forum for Ford Fusion owners. LOL! For me, the Ford Fusion Sport (I have an 11 AWD) excels in handling, steering feel/response, interior build, tech gadgetry, AWD. Although not the best in the HP numbers department, it is not at all lacking in power, despite its 2-ton girth and is absolutely fun to drive. It drives confident and stable at TOP highway speed and although not as nimble as a Focus, it permorms really well in winding roads for a mid-size car.... a wee bit of body roll in fast turns, but not a lot (really not a lot). Downside for me would be CITY gas mileage. Overall, I would rank the Fusion Sport over its current Japanese rivals, except maybe for the Nissan Altima 3.5SR (which would be my close 2nd pick). To each, his own though. After a comparative research on specs/options, I'd get out there and test each one of these cars to see what would best suit my needs/wants. There's a gem out there just waiting to be found. Good luck!
drolds1
While it might not be factor in your purchase, none of the others is available with AWD. My 2010 MKZ was my first AWD car and now I'm now a convert. My 2012 is AWD as well.
fusion0389
I just bought my 2012 Sport AWD in April and I love it! The larger 3.5 engine coupled with AWD is an awesome combination, I have driven several new honda accords and I've got to say that I like the fusion better. The hard part now is going to be getting one.. Back in April when I bought mine they werent accepting factory orders so I had to work with the dealer and sift through what was available in the southeast. In order to get the options I wanted I had to sacrifice my preferred color, keep that in mind and make your decision quickly before all the 12's are gone!
BlackBetty
I love my sport AWD. My old car was a 99 Cougar which had a 3.0L duratec and every suspension modification available for the platform. It was fast, with awesome handling but 0 ride comfort. I found that the Sport is a great mix of handling/power and comfort. I haven't driven the other cars you mentioned but for me I wanted AWD and a mid size car, and since my brother sells for Ford it was an easy pick. The only thing I want to change with the Fusion is add a nice exhaust and an intake. I figure it's a sport so it should sound a bit more sporty.
toyz
I test drove both an Accord EX and a 3.5 Altima before I purchased my 2010 Sport. I purchased the Sport because the steering response was better, the Accord had more wind noise and the seat base was not as comfortable, and the Altima had a CVT transmission which I had trouble getting used to. I now have 60K trouble free miles on my Sport and am pleased with my choice. However, that said, you are looking at three good cars - any one of which would be a good choice. Just be sure you put a few miles on each before you make your decision.
silver fuze
Sorry to cause some conFusion, I forgot to add in my post that I also added a custom tune to supplement the CAI. Your all correct in saying that a CAI system alone will add marignal if any power gains. I purchased the Steeda package & was skeptical about the claims so I took my car to the drag strip for a before & after test & cut my 1/4 mile time by a 1/2 second.
indifferent
Silver Fuze: That could be any number factors contributing to the .5 sec difference. Humidity, temp, reaction speed, take off. The only true way is a before and after dyno. If you went to milan dragway that place is notorious for being inconsistent I use to spend all my spare time there in my younger days.
