theBishop
Howdy folks - need some opinions here. Love my new fusion sport but noticed something when using select shift and WOT. When you floor it in first gear and shift up tp 2nd gear, it seems to hang for about 2 seconds then goes into second gear, each subsequent upshift performs in the same manner. I realize I shouldn't expect a manual transmission 'shift' but just curious to the 'hang' in between gears when using select shift. Any thoughts?
tca45
It does seem to do that for my car too. May not be as long but it may be the computer going "is it time, must I shift now..... and then it shifts" But ya, there is a delay between shifts.
FusionDiffusion
It takes almost exactly one second on mine. It's a normal time to prepare for shifting. If you want it to shift on time, move the selector back to Drive once you have your foot down. In automatic mode, the transmission anticipates when you will hit redline and starts the shift early so it will shift precisely at the redline. There's a lot going on inside modern automatic transmissions (double clutch swaps, line pressure ramps, etc) so they can take a little longer to shift.

Hi all. :D In addition to the good information FD offered, also keep this in mind - As described in the Owners Manual, the correct way to shift the SelectShift is to quickly "flick" the lever forward or backward and immediately release it. Holding the lever in the forward or backward position can delay the shift. However, as FD also mentioned, if you are looking for the fastest acceleration when you "floor it", leave it in D. Hope this helps nd good luck. :beerchug:
