May alreay be a thread reguarding Transmission but didn't scroll through to look. Just bought my 2010 Fusion with 24K on it and loved it for 2 weeks. Shifted smooth, lots of power for a 2.5 - more then happy. Yesterday I spit shined it and was on my way out the the in-laws to show it off (father in-law is a chevy man) and I never made it. I was on a 2 lane highway going 50 saw the "wrench" light come on and stay on. It quit shifting and was tackin' up to 5 grand without shifting. Needless to say I was P!$D. I was Able to get pulled off and Ford's Roadside was there within 45 minutes but not the way I wanted to start out with my new car.

2010 was the first year for the 6 speed auto - did they have a lot of problems with this tranny? If so is this problem diagnoised and fixable? Commonly a tranny problem, computer problem?, sensor problem? Any info can help. Love the car but not thrilled about Tranny problems at 24,000. Any info to ease my mind can help.

Search for 6F35 and you'll have your answer, but in short, yes, some people (including myself) have had issues with this transmission. There are many threads about it here and on other sites.

You are still under warranty, Ford should take care of it. Expect it to be a few weeks if it is the transmission. My rebuild took 25 days. The "good" news if it is a transmission issue is that your car should be throwing a code if it lit the wrench light...unless it isn't the transmission. Most people haven't been so "lucky" and it should speed up Ford's diagnosis at least by a few hours.

Edited: Added some if's as Drolds1 reminded me of another reason the wrench light can come on...

As Jo7hs2 states, this has been discussed here ad infinitum. However, you may not necessarily have a transmission problem. The wrench light can also be indicative of a throttle body problem, fairly common in these cars.

Let us know what your dealer finds.

Thanks - I talked to them this morning and they pulled it in but didn't run the code yet. I'll let you guys know what they find. Hopefully its not out for 25 days, but if it is thats fine just hope its right when it comes back. My rental is a gold Dodge Caravan not overly thrilled about that ....

I was in a Chrysler Town and Country for those 25 days, so I completely understand. Luckily, back then I was dealing with my purchase dealership, and I was able to get them to comp my rental. They got testy about it towards the end but it wasn't my fault it took so long, now was it? ;)

Please keep us updated, and here's hoping it is something simple!

Talked to the ford dealership and they have to do a full transmission tear down. Also, when looking deeper, they found that two outstanding recalls on my model year were not completed on my car. I called the dealership where I bought it after getting off the phone with Ford. Store Owner is away until Thursday - I refused to talk to anyone else. More updates will follow

We're you using the selling dealership for scheduled service? If so, somebody is in trouble.

That said... You *should* have gotten a mailer from Ford about the recalls. Make sure they have your address correct when you pick the car up, so you get any future notices. The wheel stud one was kinda serious.
