I didnt know where to put this so mods, please move if you need to

I recently ran across this article that states you can lower the car windows on a Fusion (unknown model years), among other makes/models, that says with the key remote the windows can be lowered. I dont have my *10 SE right now (wife has it at work), but has anyone else tried this with success?

The trick usually involves pressing the remote's unlock button, releasing it, then pressing it again and holding it down. In some cars, instead of using the remote, you can insert your key in the door lock and turn it clockwise, release, then turn it clockwise again and hold. Turning the key counterclockwise will usually raise the windows back up. Some cars will also include the sunroof as a window in this operation, while some convertibles with automatic tops will shut.

Hi GhostRider. :D In addition to the information Waldo provided, the features in our vehicles are described in detail right in the Owners Manual. And for thos ewho do not have their copy handy, the PDF version is available here -

http://owner.ford.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Owner/Page/IdentifyVehiclePage&BackToLogin=Owner/Page/OwnerGuidePage&ord=91325628 Just fill in the dropdow boxes in the "Look up Your Vehicle" section.

As with most Ford products, the "Global Opening" feature is activated by pressing and holding the unlock button on the IKT keyfob for several seconds. For those who are not sure if their car has this feature and do not want to check the Owners Manual - press and hold the unlock button for a slow count of 5 or so. If the front windows (and sunroof, if equipped) open, you have it. If they do not open, you don't.

Good luck. :beerchug:

I have a 2012 Fusion SE I4 auto with moonroof and sync. I've tried to hold the unlock button on the key fob with no success. I seem to remember someone on another thread saying it was only available in the SEL models. If it was a feature added in 2011+ models, it must have only been added to some of them. My SE is fairly well equipped and doesn't have this feature.

If someone wants to correct me and show me how to enable it I'd be thrilled!

Sorry for the incomplete information in my above post, I just checked the 2010, I didn't realize it was added in 2011.

But the key to making Global Open work is that it requires "smart motor" windows. So it can only work on windows that have the auto-up and auto-down feature. So it will never work on the rear windows on the Fusion and it will only work on the 2011+ SEL which has the auto window on the passenger side.

I have a 2012 Sport and I have accidentally pressed the unlock button with the keys in my pocket while sitting in a restaurant and the windows went down and the moon roof up and thank god it wasn't raining. I am in the process of getting this disabled. If this had happened a couple of weeks ago while I was at a funeral home it would have been a disaster because we had a tremendous rain storm come through and it would have flooded the car.

Well finally got the Global Opening option disabled this morning 10/26/2012 after talking with Fords customer service people for a week and t the he dealers service people for 3 days they finally agreed to disable it at no cost. Now maybe I can enjoy my 2012 Fusion Sport with out having to worry about me opening the windows accidentally during a thunderstorm and having it getting flooded.

Does anyone know what frequency band the remote uses? Is it possible that the feature could be triggered by remote controllers for other devices in the house? When I went out to get my newspaper this morning I noticed that both my front windows were down. All the windows were closed when the car was parked and I'm positive that I did not press any buttons on the key fob. The only remote controller used was for my TV set. My vehicle is a 2012 Fusion SEL 4-cyl.

It's 315 MHz band I believe. But it uses a coded signal, so the chances of another signal actually causing it is one in millions. Most cars have two key fobs, can you account for both not being pressed at all since the car left your sight? It's possible it happened as you were walking back if you stuck it in your pocket before you set your keys down.
