rhack
I purchased a 2012 Ford Fusion for my wife with the mirror back up camera and sensor, which worked great and she loves it the car now has 3500 miles and when she puts it in reverse you just get a blue image where the image used to appear and it also almost immediately goes away, any ideas, I HATE GOING TO THE DEALER Thanks

BlackBetty
Camera seems to be in place in the back? Is it the same blue as the car or "the blue screen of death" You might have to take it to a dealer..
ptron
its under warranty so might as well just take it to the dealer.
Fusionpursuit
Just curious, does the Mirror Back-Up camera version have options? such as delay? I have the NAV version and I have it set on delay which is very nice, instead of immediately turning off when out of Reverse, it stays on as long as you drive slow speeds or may be planning to reverse again, so the camera will stay on for awhile, till you start driving a bit forward and pick up speed. it is good for when angling in tight spaces, wondered if you could enable that or disable that, the blue screen might go away?
FusionDiffusion
I don't think it's a delay issue, I think it's a connection problem. Blue screen might indicate the video signal is dropping out.
rhack
what is "THE BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH" quoted by new member above? anybody know how the picture comes to be versus the blue square that appears and then goes away in a second or two which is what is happening now
rhack
question to Fusion Diffusion Where does the video signal come from? is it in the box next to the mirror?
FusionDiffusion
The video signal comes from the camera right above the licensee plate. It goes though wires all the way to the review mirror. So if a connector comes loose or the wire is damaged the display will just show a blue screen similar to your TV will if the reception goes out.

The term is named after the color of the screen generated by the error. In Unix-based operating systems, a similar term is kernel panic. Basically a connection error.. That term is the only thing I picked up in my computer 1000 course lmao
BKZOWN
I've noticed on my sport the only time I get a blue screen is if when I put the car in park really fast after backing up in my driveway and I shut the car off right away. And the box next to the rearview mirror is the sensor for your rain sensing wipers.

rhack
after doing some more research, there is initially a quick grey screen like on a TV signal where there is no channel reception then goes to the BLUE screen, could this be something as simple as a computer reset?

Can someone please tell me how to set my backup camera of delay on my 2012 Fusion with the Nav system? I have heard the setting is on the info screen but cant fine it. Thanks!
FusionDiffusion
Put it in reverse, (camera shows up) and hit the settings button in the lower left corner of the picture. A menu should come up with the delay setting.
Crusion in the Fusion
I don't think it's a delay issue, I think it's a connection problem. Blue screen might indicate the video signal is dropping out. Exactly! This could be a costly repair, so I'd take it to the dealer before repairs have to be paid out of your pocket.
