Frank
I just bought a 2011 Fusion from the auction and it came with MyKey only, and I don't know where can I get started. Can I remove the "MyKey" settings out of the key that I have? Also, I found on Amazon uncut / un-programmed keys for $40, would that work as an admin key instead going to the Ford dealership and get a key for $200. Please help!!
akirby
If you only have one key then you have to go to the dealer to get another one added and to clear the mykey functionality. Shop around and you should be able to get it done cheaper than $200.
FusionDiffusion
Yes, that's something only the dealer can fix.

akirby
So what are you saying there is no way I can get a key with out going through the deal? You can get a key and have it cut and it will open the door but in order for the key to actually start the vehicle it has to be programmed to the vehicle by the dealer because you only have ONE key right now. If you had 2 active keys then you could program a 3rd key yourself. But since you only have one key it has to be done by the dealer. The reason is security - otherwise a valet could take your key and program a new one and you'd never know it. Requiring 2 keys to make a 3rd prevents that.

Owner's Guide: Programming spare keys You can program your own integrated keyhead transmitters or standard SecuriLock coded keys to your vehicle. This procedure will program both the engine immobilizer key code and the remote entry transmitter portion of the IKT to your vehicle. Note: A maximum of eight coded keys can be programmed to your vehicle; only four of these eight can be IKTs with remote entry functionality. Tips: • Only use integrated keyhead transmitters (IKTs) or standard SecuriLock keys. • You must have two previously programmed coded keys (keys that already operate your vehicle’s engine) and the new unprogrammed key(s) readily accessible. • If two previously programmed coded keys are not available, you must take your vehicle to your authorized dealer to have the spare key(s) programmed.

Big Jim
Some locksmiths have the ability to add keys when there is only one key. I have had "My Key" with some rentals. Usually it is only one of two keys. My Key limits top speed to 80 MPH. When you approach 80 MPH, there is a dash display warning you that you are approaching the speed limiter. That may be desirable if there are teenagers in the family, but otherwise it is a real pain.
