ewall86
I own a FWD.. Don't know if that helps or limits which type of exhaust I can install? Edited October 13, 2012 by ewall86
bbf2530
Looking to install an exhaust system here in the next few months. Have read a lil on each want to see what is everyone's take on the two? Sound.. Performance.. Etc. Hi ewall. :D Our cars already have a high quality, free flowing factory exhaust. Therefore, like most cars today, the exhaust system choke point is the catalytic converters, not the exhaust tract or mufflers aft of the converters. This means an aftermarket exhaust will do absolutley nothing for power. So if you want to change the souind,go ahead and install an aftermarket system, but expect no power gains (no matter what any company may claim in their advertising). Now, all of that being said, I prefer Borla systems. A bit mellower sound and generally higher quality.. But also more expensive. Good luck. :beerchug: Edited October 13, 2012 by bbf2530
ewall86
@bbf2530, Thanks for the info. Good to know it wont effect performance. Both websites say it helps but your explanation definitely sounds way more valid. Do you have a Borla installed on your's? And when you say "mellower" do you mean more like a lower growl as opposed to a higher growl? More pure sounding as opposed to fake sounding? Or just quieter in general?
ewall86
And does Borla make an exhaust system for a FWD Sport, after looking online all I see is it is for AWD??
FusionDiffusion
The reason for changing the exhaust would be solely for the sound. There's practically no performance increase as BBF explained. Not my car, but here's a vid of the Borla exhaust so you can hear what it sounds like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMknystrE5g Not sure if they offer a FWD exhaust. It might be the same as the 3.0 L engine, so you might call them.
andrewdingemans
This is mine, just the beginning of the video will give you an idea of what it sounds like. I did a clip when it was installed and it sounds like it has gotten deeper now that I have thrown 40,000km on it.
Fusionpursuit
I have the magnaflow and I think it has broken in now after 3K miles, I am now getting 433 miles to empty at fill up. averaging 26 on my commute from normally around 24-25. Many say that the Borla and Magnaflow are not better or worse vs each other, it seems to just be different tastes.
