Proud owner of a new 2013 Titanium here.

Overall happy with my purchase. This car gets attention everywhere I go. I tinted it 18% all the way around which really added some class to the look.

My main complaints so far are the myfordtouch having some issues, the clock randomly displays the wrong time and my phone doesn't alway sync.

Also the MPG I am averaging is not even close to the stated numbers.

They say 22/33 and I average around 18.6(city driving heavy foot) 20(city driving light foot) /23.6.(highway with cruise at 65)

The highway MPG is really disappointing, I reset the calculator as soon as I got on the highway and drove 30 miles at a steady 65 and best I got was 23.6.

Anyway overall a great car, I have yet to calculate the MPG myself (not using the cars computer) and only have 1000 miles so it may get better once the engine is fully broken in.

I have a 13 Fusion SE 2.5 that I took delivery of on Oct.22. Using the on board computer I was getting 12.4 mpg at 50 miles. At 200 miles I was getting 17.6 mpg. At 500 miles I was getting 22.3 mpg. At 1000 miles it was 24.5 mpg. And at 1850 miles it was up to 28.9 mpg. All these readings were at 70-75 mph over 3 days as I took the car on a 1800 mile trip immediately after taking delivery. I figure on at least another 3-5 thousand miles till the engine is fully broken in. I have no doubt that it will get the 34 mpg it is rated at. You have to give it time and miles. These new engines are built tight and need many miles to break in. She also used 3/4 of a qt. of oil in the first 1000 miles.

Congrats and welcome to the forum. Can't wait for mine to get built and delivered.

Have you tinted that dark before and do you get hassled by LE in FL?

SorryTinted 18% not legal in Florida. I think the legal limit is something like 35%. (whatever it is, it is somewhere in the 30's).

Around here in Central Florida, although you do see those very dark tints, the local LEO's look for any reason to stop cars, and many towns, such as mine, have the equipment to check the tint and hand out tickets.

Both my cars have stickers on the doorpost, stating the percent of tint, and that they meet Florida specs. Matter of fact, the tinting places I go to will not install a tint that does not meet Florida law. (some place do, just for the business and money).

You being Navy in Jacksonville will not keep you from getting a ticket. Many LEO's were also in the service, and they don't care, plus you (and me) have no priority with them. Trust me!

Take it from the Old Chief.

I had my last car tinted the same 18% all around, drove it in FL for 3 years and never got a ticket. The legal limit on the fronts here is 28% and 15% on the back. I just dont like the way 28% looks really so I am willing to risk it.

On another note, has anyone checked out the Mondeo (European verion) headlights? They are a lot nicer and don't have the ugly amber turn signal. I am hoping they become available for sale here or at least an after market alternative. The turn signal is the only thing I don't like about the exterior. I know its a small detail but it bugs me.

Just picked up my Ti tuxedo black this week, so with the black leather I'm looking to tint but not sure what level. In ct 35 is legal but I don't know how that will look?

Anyone with a black exterior who has used 35% tint and has any feedback (positive or negative). I think they offer 30 which may be a compromise but would like some user experience before I decide. To add more complexity the wife says she does not want it too dark where she can not see out at night!

Welcome! Enjoy your new Fusion! Florida State Tint Law is 25% Front 15% rear and back window.

Don't be too discouraged about fuel economy, use the Instant Fuel gauge as a driving coach. I have an AWD Fusion Ti and I get EPA and I'm at 1400ish miles.

Your numbers are way off for Florida spec's...Florida State Tint Law is 25% Front 15% rear and back window. I live in Orlando, downtown area and have my entire life and I can tell you that I have never once had a problem or known someone who has had a problem with tint. I do 5% all around on my vehicles. Every tint shop in the greater Central Florida area will tint whatever % you want as long as you don't act suspicious and don't ask 100 questions. Pay cash, you don't receive a receipt and you're good to go.

Why would you want pitch black tinted windows? I remember borrowing my sister's car she imported from Las Vegas to Toronto and the windows were very tinted, I couldn't see out the window at night and had to roll down the windows. It's distracting when driving and unsafe.

Whats unsafe for you, may not be unsafe for others. Maybe your vision is a bit off and others isn't?? I don't know you personally so I won't judge that. I can tell you though in my personal experience, I've owned 5 vehicles and every single one of them has been black with black interior and I have had 5% tint on all of my vehicles.. 5% tint all the way around, except the front window.. I have never had a problem, nor have I ever had to roll my windows down because I couldn't see.. My windows aren't solid black, lol.. They are 5%, silly!

You live in a city so everything is lit up at night and you have controlled intersections for almost everything. With 5% I'm guessing it would be very difficult to see cars near dusk that haven't turned their lights on yet. Combined with shadows from trees lining the road and lower sun angles I'm not surprised he had to roll his windows down to see. Up here in the north 5% is just not practical and arguably dangerous. Luckily I don't see very many cars tinted that dark here (usually only seen on ricers).

All the safety stuff aside I've never understood why anyone would want their windows that dark. Is it more about you wanting your interior dim or people not being able to see into your car?

You live in the country were you can leave your car unlocked, house windows down and front door unlocked at all times, even while you sleep... I miss those days, and frankly grew up in South Georgia just like that.. I live in a society, were even a lighter sitting in your cup holder is fair game to someone who wishes to break into your vehilcle.. It's all about what they can see in your car. I like for them to be able to put there forehead up on my window and still not be able to see inside.. I do this for protection of my belongings inside my vehicle and also to keep the heat out. When I was young, I stupidly installed 5% on my first vehicle, I got used to it and have loved it ever since.. So why change?

You Ameicans give Canadians too much credit, I ALWAYS lock my car and keep windows up when I park it. Funny you say that though, I told someone the other day, "remember those days when people left their car windows down and unlocked?" I've never seen anyone park their car and leave their windows down here in Toronto. Maybe up in the country with a population of 5, yea, but not in the city. And at night I actually have 3 locks on my door which I lock, but that's just me.

As for the tinting, only reason why you would tin your windows %5 which is illegal here in Toronto is to hide, it actually makes you look suspicious and most places that tint go by those regulations.

I live in Missouri and it's 5% all around and 35% on the front windows. I have had cars with the 5% and I kinda agree...it's hard to see at night, and even at dusk sometimes trying to see out the back window. I love the look of 5% from the outside, just find it hard to see from the inside. My girlfriend's SUV has 5% all around and I find my self using the side mirrors to back up so I can see lol.

So I get my fusion on the 17th and debating to do 20% on the back or go with the 5%.....

I'm in Cali. I have 5% on the rear and 20% on the fronts. I don't have issues seeing at night.

Further more I have 5% on the durango and it cuts down to 1% due to tint film over factory tint. 15% on the front windows. Wish I would have did 5% and kicking myself for it. But it is what it is..

As for the reason.. Privacy. I hate people being able to see me or inside my vehicle. And the main reason is the heat control. Both my vehicles have black leather and tint really makes leather much more enjoyable in summer.

Where I live (suburban neighborhood) we can get away with unlocked homes, unlocked doors, windows down. Heck, even keys in the cup holder! The neighborhood where I reside is posted "safest community" for the city.

It's all dependent on the areas. I have lived in areas you must lock your doors and keep a light on. Shame that most areas are like that :(
