Fusion 3.5
First oil change with the new car. I actually let it accure more miles than I wanted before changing the "factory" oil. Hit 6,000 and changed to Amsoil 5-20 Signature. I am anxious to see if there is a significant difference. BTW the oil monitor said I had 40% remaining before I was due to change the oil. Personally, I've never let a car get more than 3,000 on conventional oil. My old SHO lived to 240,000 on this philosophy before my son wrecked it.
Fusion 3.5
Update on vehicle performance after the oil change. I did gain about 1 mpg in urban driving. So far I noticed it seems to start easier in cold weather. Will find out this weekend how it does on a longer trip. Wife is going to parents (230 miles one way).
acdii
I got similar results with Mobil1. Going full syn does help. I prefer the M1 mainly because its easier to get than Amsoil. Thinking of changing my 2013 H out to M1 soon see if it helps any.
MonoxideChild
I used to use Amsoil on all my cars, and was even a sales rep for them for quite a few years. But after they doubled there prices, it just wasnt worth it. Ive been using Schaeffers Synthetic in my none turbo cars ever since and cant tell a difference. And its like 3 bux a quart cheaper. I still run the 10/30 turbo formulated Amsoil in my 2 boosted cars though. But thankfully they dont even see a few thousand miles a year. So the expensive oil doesnt really matter. In my work truck, i just get whatever is cheapest or on sale at the auto parts store.

Have you had any problems with the work truck engine? If not, makes me wonder if the cheap oil is doing just as good a job as the very expensive oil.
FusionDiffusion
If not, makes me wonder if the cheap oil is doing just as good a job as the very expensive oil. I've heard that before from some oil pros. As long as you're not doing anything extreme the cheap oil is good enough thanks to modern standards it must conform to (e.g. API SN category).

As long as you're not doing anything extreme the cheap oil is good enough thanks to modern standards it must conform to (e.g. API SN category). That's pretty much true. API SN pretty much exceeds the need by a wide margin. Oils have come a long way since the 60s.
MonoxideChild
I dont abuse the work truck like i do the rest of my personal vehicles. And its also the only Automatic of the group, so it never see's highier RPM's like the rest. So i just dont really worry about the quality of the oil in that one as much.
