gaycarguy
Has anyone changed their 2006-2009 5-speed manual trans for a 2010-2012 6 speed manual? I have an '06 with 75k miles on it. I haven't had any issues but I'm considering doing this when the clutch goes out. I'm wondering if anyone knows if they're an easy swap or if it would take major changes. I would love to turn lower RPMs and get better fuel economy and longevity out of the powertrain as a result of the reduced wear.
MonoxideChild
never been done that ive seen. Might be easy, Might be a ton of work. You would also need the shifter assembly and the shifter cables at a minimum to be able to work. Assuming everythign else bolts up. But thats a really big assumption i wouldnt bet on.
Photi_G
The blocks for the 2.3 and 2.5 are the same, so it's not too far fetched to assume that the bellhousing patterns are the same too. I'd do some research to be sure. That's pretty much the only "if."
MonoxideChild
The bell housings are the same. But what i was talking about is the locations of the mounts between both tranny's, and If the axles are the same diameter and spline count.
