MikeS
This morning, I called a local dealer here in Philadelphia to get a lease quote on a special order Fusion 2013 Titanium. He called me back at 9pm, trying to sell me one that happens to be arriving next week, even though it didn't have the options I wanted. It didn't have BLISS but had park-assist. I told him I know how to park and am more concerned about cars in my blind spot while driving. When I told him I wanted to special order it, he started hemming and haaawing that he can't guarantee residuals on a lease, and the special order will take 3 months, and I should just take whatever he happens to have. He was a total jerk. When I challenged him on whether or not they can lock in a deal at time of order, he said he didn't know, and would call ford tomorrow. Question: Do the residuals for a lease really change quarterly or is it monthly? If quarterly, and I order now, might I get the car before the end of march? Thanks, Mike

Thanks, Mike Hi MIke. :D In reality, "residuals" are at the whim of the Dealership. Too much room for pricing games with leases. So just check with various Dealers and go with the best deal. WiIl you get a vehicle you order right now by the end of March? Possible but since the Fusion is still in the introduction phase, impossible to say for sure. Whatever you decide to do, good luck. :beerchug: Edited January 4, 2013 by bbf2530
akirby
I think he was referring to Ford Credit Red Carpet Lease residuals which are set by Ford and probably are updated on some regular interval but I have no idea if it's weekly, monthly, quarterly or annually.
TX13UJP0K
Actually, RCL Rates and Incentives can be protected. While residuals are quarterly, incentive periods usually change every month. Doing a retail special order at a dealer is the best way to get what you want, and they can guarantee the rates and incentives, through the Retail Order Verification system. Don't let the dealer strong arm you into a vehicle on the lot if it doesn't have what you want in stock. Generally take 6-10 weeks for an order to schedule, lock-in, build, release, and ship. The main reason why cars take long to build, is because the dealer does not have the ALLOCATION for the vehicle. Dealers can order whatever they want, but there isnt a 100% guarantee that it will build, based on allocation, commdities at the factory, etc. 1st QTR 2013 Residuals are out, and they are the highest I have ever seen on a Fusion since 2008. Titanium has a 66% residual for a 24 month lease at 15,000 miles a year! akirby
I thought Retail Order Verification eliminated dealer allocation from the equation since the retail order did not count against the dealer's allocation. I know they did that with the 2010 Fusion hybrid.
MikeS
Thanks Rich! I finalized the order today, and you are right: 70% residual on a 24 month lease, 12k per year! I'm about to start another thread to share the details, but thanks! Mike
