2013 SE audio woes

It took me a few tries but I finally got Pandora on my cell to work through SYNC in my stock SE. I noticed it sounds pretty good compared to the radio, which seemed to clip and overdrive the amp. So I played with the radio and turned the treble, mid, bass all the way down and this removed the apparent clipping and over drive. It sounds much better and the volume is in line with what comes out of the phone. Doesn't sound great but much better. I currently set the treble, mid and bass 3 or 4 few bars below center and I'm much much happier. I still hope someone develops a one for one replacement, I'll in line with the rest of you!!

I thought the same thing until I realized someone had set the treble all the way up and everything else in the middle. I also shifted the balance a couple "clicks" to the rear to get a more full sound that felt like it was surrounding me rather than blasting into my face.

I've had a bunch of cars over the years and used to always upgrade the stock system trying to get it to sound the way I wanted it to. Then I finally gave up on modifying stock systems because no matter how much time and money I dumped into it, it never met my expectations.

Then I entered my "totally replace it" phase. I'd remove all the factory system and put in all aftermarket. Whoa! Now that's the way to go. Sounded great, but many times looked like crap. Big subs took up cargo space, aftermarket speakers often required cutting or making adapters to get them to fit. Then I'd end up trading the car after a two or three years and had to send the stereo off with it because I had modified the car so much.

Then at some point I just gave up. Yeah, stock stereo systems won't impress Tigra and Bunny who like the "Cars that go boom", but they aren't all that terrible. Now that we have systems like Sync that are so tightly integrated into the vehicle, it makes it ever harder to upgrade. Sometimes changing to higher quality speakers with an external amp will make a huge difference. I've never had a great deal of luck with converting high level to low level, as a lot of factory systems pull out bass as you turn up the volume. There are some sound processors that will correct that, but now you're starting down the road of dumping money into a stock system.

Cars are really difficult to get great sound in (note...great sound doesn't equal loud bass unless the song actually has loud bass in it). Wind noise, engine noise, road noise, etc. I can't tell you how many times I've installed a killer system, tuned it, and got it sounding great only to drive down the road and have it sound less than great.

I've just resigned myself to the fact that if I can actually tell what song it is, then I'm a winner. I am the bass player in our church band, and it absolutely drives me crazy to not hear a sweet bass line, but such is life.

Hey guys! Where would one go about splicing the remote wire from an amp to? I have the rca plugs for input to splice with the speaker wire but would i have to pop out the trim around the touch screen and access a remote port behind the touch screen?
