munruss
Hello! Have a 2010 Ford Fusion Sport. I have 30,000 miles on it. According to the dealership, the car is due for a transmission fluid change. I took a look at the owners service manual online, and the tranny doesn't get touched until 150,000 miles. I have read some postings and people do have the service at 30,000. With the transmission I have (automatic), should I have this service performed? Thanks!

Hi munruss. :D For the best and most accurate information for your vehicle (according to Ford), read your Owners Maintenance Schedule located in your Owners Manual. You do not need to perform a trans fluid change/flush at 30,000 miles unless your drving habits fit the Severe Duty/Service driving criteriua described in the Maintenance Schedule. If your driving fits that criteria, have it done. If it does not, then follow the Normal Driving criteria which seems to be 150,000 miles max (or sooner according to your comfort level). Otherwise, the same advice fits all service - Follow your Owners Maintenance Schedule in your Owners Manual...not what the Dealer tells us. Hope this helps and good luck. :beerchug:
hermans
I had my 2010 done at 76,000 miles. It looked OK, but with the history of these transmissions I decided to have it done.
Big Jim
My personal comfort level would be way shorter than 150,000 miles. 30,000 miles is a traditional interval for those that intend to keep their cars for a long time.
durasel
It might depend on the transmission too. Remember there's two of them, the 6F35 and the aisin.

I fall under the normal driving category. I will have it done near 60,000 miles. Let me ask this question, does the Fusion Sport have a fuel filter outside of the fuel tank? One dealership said I was due for the service, while others said the filter is not to be serviced unless there is an issue.

No. The fuel filter in located in the fuel tank and doesn't normally require service. Shame on a Ford dealer that tells you otherwise.
