Jerky Trans v2.0

When I come to a stop sign if I simply roll up to it without stopping completely and begin going it tends to jerk. Oddly enough it feels like the car has shifted down into too low a gear and it takes off. Its very strange and annoying - cause i don't like the jerky - fast stop fast go acceleration driving. I have felt the feeling before with people who dont know how to drive and they go from slamming brake to gas. (which i am not doing.)

I'd think you'd have noticed that on the test drive if it's such a big deal.

Not all accelerator pedals are created equal. You are going to have to get used to it. Over time the mechanics of the pedal will likely wear in. Think about when you get a new pair of shoes--stiff--but a year later they're soft and pliable.

Hi Lee. :D Not sure which model you have, but there is a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) which addresses this problem for certain models produced before particular dates.. The fix is a re-flash (re-programming) of the PCM and TCM (Engine and Transmission Control Modules).

Call your Dealer and make a service appointment. When you bring it in for service, explain exactly what is happening and under what circumstances. Hopefully, your car will qualify for the re-flash, and it will correct the problem.

Good luck! :beerchug:

I agree I would have but most of my drive was four lane and stop lights - not much issue with "rolling through stop signs" - Thanks for your idea though.

I should have included some more info - sorry about that. Is it possible to find this bulletin online so I can read it?

Which model engine do you have. The TSB is for the 3.0 V6 with the Aisin Tranny. TSB 07-2-3

it is an 07 SE v6 3.0L with automatic tranny

Hi Lee. :D Again, call your Dealer and make a service appointment. Explain, in detail, what your concerns are. When it occurs (speed, temperature, etc), how it occurs, etc. Give as much detail as possible. If your car qualifies for the PCM/TCM re-flash, the Dealer should do it. Honestly, no sense wasting your time discussing this with us.

Take it in for service. It is covered under your new vehicle warranty.

Good luck! :beerchug:

Hello Lee,

I, in fact, think it is smart to discuss your concerns here as not all dealers are honest OR knowledgeable. I have actually have had to tell them there was a TSB on my vehicle for a condition when they would argue that there wasn't. Once printed and shown to them they would politely issue an apology.

When going into battle it is best to have as much information as possible and depending on your dealerships attitude you may be entering a battle.. Good luck!

Here is what the TSB shows...(just what you described)

FORD: 2006-2007 Fusion

LINCOLN: 2006 Zephyr

MERCURY: 2006-2007 Milan

This article supersedes TSB 06-21-11 to update the TSB Action step.

ISSUE:

Some 2006-2007 Fusion, Milan and 2006 Zephyr vehicles built before 9/4/2006 equipped with a 3.0L engine and Aisin F21 automatic transmission may exhibit one or more of the driveability and/or transmission symptoms listed below.

Engine Driveability

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0606

Powertrain lacks response

High idles after starting engine and lasting about 2 minutes

Intermittent hard to start

Transmission

Transmission shifts too early / too late / too often

Gear changes take too long to complete

Shifts rough or jerky from park

Slow downshifts

Takes too long to engage and/or hesitates while shifting from Park to Drive or Reverse

ACTION:

Reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM) and transmission control module (TCM) to the latest calibration

Hello Double Vision, and Lee. :D Yes, and I agree. I at no time would say not to discuss the original concern. It was discussed, and the TSB was brought to Lee's attention. He has the correct model, engine and trans. At this point, his cars production date is the only unknown variable.

The point I was making is we have already established that the TSB addresses his concerns (as long as his car qualifies). Even if his car does not qualify, he still is not happy with the trans shift quality, so he needs to have his Dealer check it for problems.

He can discuss and make an appointment, they are not mutually exclusive actions. I see no harm in that advice. In fact, it goes quite well with yours.

I hope you understand that I am not trying to be a wiseguy, just trying to get Lee to make an appointment. He will have to make one sooner or later, better sooner.

Good luck Lee, I hope it takes care of your problem. :beerchug:
