Global Open: 2013 Ford Fusion Titanium

Recommended Posts

Do all Fusions have this feature for 2013? I see the option to turn it on or off from my menu on the information display, inside the Vehicle. But has yet to get it to work. I am not sure if Accessory Delay is on or off, but will check that out. I do not have the moonroof on my vehicle but pretty much everything else.

I found this information from the User Manual..

GLOBAL OPENING AND CLOSING

You can use the remote control to operate the windows with the ignition off.

Note: You can enable or disable this feature in the information display or see an authorized dealer. See General Information.

Note: To operate this feature, accessory delay must not be active.

Opening the Windows

You can only open the windows for a short time after you unlock your vehicle with the remote control. After you unlock your vehicle, press and hold the remote control unlock button to open the windows and vent the moonroof. Release the button once movement starts. Press the lock or unlock button to stop movement.

Closing the Windows

WARNING warning_ownerguide.gif When closing the windows and moonroof, you should verify they are free of obstructions and make sure that children and pets are not in the proximity of the window openings.

To close the windows and moonroof, press and hold the remote control lock button. Release the button once movement starts. Press the lock or unlock button to stop movement.

The video says about 3 seconds - it's actually much longer than that.

I finally got mine to work today after trying this about 10 times.. I don't know what the hell is going on but mine just didn't want to cooperate. However, I did notice that once the windows were down, I pressed the lock button for about 5 seconds and the windows began to go up.. EXCEPT: the passenger front window.. That window is bugged.. The one touch down works for it, but one touch up doesn't.. I have an appointment at the dealer on Monday to have it fixed.

Your passenger front window needs to be initialized. You can do this yourself.

From the Workshop Manual:

Initialization

I had searched for something like this, but was unable to find it. Thank you so much for posting. I just got into work a few minutes ago but am going to go try it now. The window worked on one touch up and one touch down when we first got it. Is it possible that I did something to stop that feature?

Usually a window looses initialization if power is pulled low during operation, such as a weak/dead battery of if it was disconnected while in motion.

Duly noted! thanks.. Another member posted yesterday that holding the window button in the up position for 3-4 seconds until hearing a clicking sound, would reset the window.. I tried that and it worked like a charm. I think mine just needed to be reset. All windows are working perfect now on auto up and down and the global open is now working properly and rolling windows up/down!

I FINALLY got this to work on my 2013 SE after about 20 minutes, and several attempts. The trick to it, and no where did I see it written, you HAVE to "UNLOCK" the doors first, then hold the unlock button for 3 seconds before the global feature will begin to work. Trial and error I guess. Anyway, I really like this option. It will be great for the hot Virginia days when I come out of work. I'll be able to vent the scorching heat out before I get to the car.

Does anyone know if the 2012 models have the global closing feature? I have a 2012 SEL, and the global open feature seeems to work just fine. However, I cannot get the windows to close using the lock button on my key. The manual mentions global opening in the section on windows, but there is no mention of global closing. Another section has a paragraph on opening the windows with the remote, but nothing is said about closing them. Is the global closing feature only on 2013 and later models?

There's no global close on the 2012.

My 2013 FFH is at the dealer not being reprogramed for the third time. My one-touch isn't working and when you press the button to close the drivers window it automatically goes down when you reach the top. Fun times at the car wash. Since this is the third reprogram, the tech is contacting Ford to see if they have any suggestions. I think there is an issue particullar to this car, as my 2013 MKZh have never had a window problem from day one.

I've reset the windows many times only to only have the issue return after a few days.

With customers I have who return frequently for initialization, I USUALLY find it's due to the customer's learned habits. Typically, the customer without thinking about it holds the switch up for the full duration of time it takes the glass to complete it's travel and this will ALWAYS blow out the initialization. I've fought with this since Ford started using one-touch up windows in the 05 Mustang and Five Hundred. You wouldn't believe how many moonroofs I have to reinit because people hold the button. For most people, even those used to one touch down windows, tapping the switch up and releasing is not a thing they think about. Most of our driving experience pre-dates one touch up windows by a decade, and that's a lot of learning to undo. Just watch yourself for a bit to see if you may be doing this.

If it's bouncing back at the top, that may not be a software issue, it may be something in the glass runs that actually is causing high efforts to close, and thus it's bouncing back correctly. If you hold the button as it goes up, can you hear the motor strain a bit when it gets to the top?
