Signing in twice

Since the changes were made to the site this last weekend, it seems like I now have to sign in twice every time I visit the site.  When I go to http://www.fordfusionforum.com/ , I am presented with the screen asking me to sign in.  After I enter mu user name and password and click on the "sign in" box, I'm taken to another page where the sign in box is still there, but my name and password are already filled in. So I have to click on the sign in box once more in order to reach the forum.  In both of these sign in screens, I have checked the "remember me" box.  I thought that should eliminate the necessity of having to sign in each time.  The way the setup was before, every time I would go to the forum, my user name was already there on the page and I didn't need to sign in.  I think I would have to verify my password about once a month or so, but no more often than that.  Am I doing something wrong under the new setup?  I surely would like to not have to sign in each time I visit the forum, and I certainly don't want to have to navigate through two different sign in screens.  Does anybody have any ideas as to what different techniques I might try to not have to sign in (once of twice) every time?  Thanks.

The site works if one has the patience to log in twice. The rejected login takes me to a redirect page where it logs in correctly the second attempt. However, the site logs me off every time I close the browser. It used to remember my login when I grabbed a new browser, but no more. I have a desktop and the option to have it remember passwords, so I cannot comment on how those with smartphones would access the site.

The sign-in from the main page and auto sign-in are not working - most likely the same problem.

Unread content is also not working for me either the standard one or a custom filter I created to show unread items since last visit.

I'll send Robert an email just to be sure he's aware since he hasn't chimed in on this thread.

Thanks.   I was beginning to think that no one else knew about this problem.  I'm glad to see that I'm not alone.  I hope they can get things straightened out soon.  I know when you make some changes that it sometimes takes awhile to get everything working exactly the way you want.  I guess we all have just got to have a little patience.  Thanks again.

That's exactly what's happening to me and I suspect, to everyone else as well.  Still, the level of activity is unusually low.

Indeed.

Activity is probably low because the new design is still difficult to navigate and not at all appealing. The new design is not an improvement.

Seriously, I really hate it.

I'm trying to keep an open mind and deal with it but so far, I don't see any worthwhile improvements and yes, it's difficult to navigate.  IMO, this format is not at all user-friendly.

I wasn't sure what to think of the new layout/interface, but after a few days, I'm actually growing to like it.   Change is difficult, sure, but I'm seeing some neat new features and details of the new layout.   IMHO, the only real down-sides right now are the necessity of signing in twice and having to re-sign in from time to time, and having to completely re-learn where most things are.

We didn't change this site's design by choice - software makes always change things.  The previous design went back to 2005 and so it was familiar.  The new design is catching up actually with current designs.

Yes, that's a common practice and it's OK as long as it's not just change for the sake of change. Could we at least get some kind of quick-start guide?  Also, what about the other BON forums?  I'm a member of the MKZ forum and it's still in the old format.

News flash:  I tried to post this previously and when I hit the 'preview' button, it signed me out and I had to type the whole thing over again!:swear:

Back from storm chasing from South Carolina, Georgia and back home to Florida.  We have full power and internet back :happyfeet:

I am working on solving the issues above - VERY SORRY for the delay.

Robert; Given what you have been through this issue is nothing, but thanks for your efforts!
